Svitko remains in the top ten Dakar Rally: In the fifth stage you lost one place – Športky.sk

RIJÁD – Slovak motorcycle racer Štefan Svitko finished 18th in the 5th stage of the 44th Dakar Rally on Thursday. The special with a length of 395 kilometers managed to pass in 3:33:57 h. He lost 14:25 min to the fastest Toby Price from Australia. Second place went to Italian Danilo Petrucci (+4: 14), followed by Ross Branch of Botswana by two seconds.

Brit Sam Sunderland leads the overall standings, Svitko has lost one place and closes the top ten. This is the second worst result for the drivers of the Slovnaft Rally Team at this year’s Dakar, he placed lower only in the third stage, in which he finished 19th.

In the cars, the fastest South African was Henk Lategan on Toyota, who was almost two minutes ahead of nine-time WRC champion Sebastien Loeb. The third best time was set by the Argentine Lucio Alvarez (+2: 10). Overall, Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah leads.
