The order of the longest stage of the Dakar Rally was mixed with penalties: Svitko moved two places! – Športky.sk

RIJÁD – Slovak motorcycle rider Štefan Svitko finally took 8th place in Wednesday’s 4th stage of the 44th Dakar Rally. The Slovnaft Rally Team competitor reached a time of 4:19:09 in the 465 km long special and first took the 10th position, but after the penalties of Danil Petrucci and Ricky Brabec he moved two places higher.

He finally lost a minute less (12:03 min) to the victorious Spanish Joan Barred Bort, as he also received a penalty. Chilean Pablo Quintanilla finished second, originally the third Petrucci dropped to 15th place. The Portuguese Rui Goncalves moved to the bronze position.

In the overall ranking, Svitko maintained the 9th place with a distance of 20:42 min. to the English leader Sam Sunderland. Dakar recorded its second best result in the longest special in this year’s Rally Itinerary. He was most successful in the 2nd stage, in which he finished seventh and moved into the elite ten.

“Today was the longest measured stage, terribly fast, hard, stones, holes … Exactly what I don’t like and what I’m most afraid of. So I’m grateful for the result.” Svitko stated on social networks.
