Health pass, nightclubs closed … French people approve most anti-Covid measures – BFMTV

According to our latest Opinino 2022 survey, among the most resounding measures, 57% of respondents are in favor of changing a health pass into a vaccination pass.

The French remain worried about the advance of Covid-19 and the Omicron variant in the country. While parliamentarians are tearing themselves apart over the text of the law making it possible to change the health pass into a vaccination pass and Emmanuel Macron claims to want to “piss off the unvaccinated”, a large part of the population remains pessimistic about the health situation of the country.

Thus, according to a latest Elabe Opinion 2022 survey for BFMTV and The Express with our partner SFR, published this Wednesday, 64% of French people questioned say they are concerned about the spread of Covid-19 (46% rather worried and 18% very worried), a trend that has been increasing since mid-December, in particular among those over 65 with 72% worries. This figure has visible consequences on the morale of respondents, since 63% feel they feel weariness, 37% nostalgia, 35% anger and 34% sadness.

In general, 58% of French respondents believe that “the epidemic is far from over and that it will resume strongly”, an increase of 4% compared to November 18.

French people in favor of the vaccine pass

Subsequently, respondents were also asked about the measures proposed by the government to contain the epidemic. Among them, 70% initially believe that it is appropriate to prioritize their health and that of others over their individual freedoms, a drop of 3 points since the end of August 2021. This idea seems to be in the majority among all age groups, in particular among those aged 65 and over (84%, compared to 70% of those aged 50-64 and 63% of those under 50).

Thus, 79% of respondents are in favor of the obligation to work remotely (telework) at least 3 to 4 days a week for jobs that allow it, 75% of the obligation to wear a mask in public transport and places indoors receiving the public from the age of 6, 65% when nightclubs close until January 24 inclusive, and another 64% when a maximum capacity of 2,000 people is established for indoor gatherings and 5,000 people outdoors.

Among the popular measures but a little less popular, the easing of the isolation rules for people with a complete vaccination schedule when they are positive for Covid-19 or contact cases (62% of “favorable”), the obligation wearing a mask outdoors in the city center (61%), moving from a ‘health pass’ to a ‘vaccination pass’ conditioning access to certain places for people aged 12 and over who have a complete vaccination schedule (57%) or the ban on concerts where spectators are standing (55%).

In fact, the vast majority of measures recently proposed by the government find favor in the eyes of those polled. For 39% of them, these are adapted to the current health situation and for 31% of respondents, they are not strict enough. Conversely, 30% of French people think they are too strict.

Disagree with the vaccination of the youngest

On the other hand, the French people questioned as part of this survey are much more divided on three specific points, including the reduction of the time limit for the booster dose to 4 months (against 7 months currently) to keep a valid ‘vaccine pass’ from of February 15 (51% favorable against 49% opposed). Then, the equality is perfect with regard to the three tests in four days to stay in school imposed on the schoolchildren if a positive case is detected in a class of children of less than 12 years. Finally, the opening of vaccination to children aged 5 to 11 collects 52% of unfavorable opinions against 48% of favorable ones. Among them, 72% of parents of children aged 5 to 11 are against it.

Finally, a majority of French people are opposed to the ban on drinking standing up in bars and cafes (39% in favor, 61% against), a perceptible opposition in all the categories surveyed. Politically, only the voters of Emmanuel Macron adhere to it, with a short head, at 51%.

In general, support for government measures increases with age since 69% of those 50 and over are in favor of switching from a health pass to a vaccination pass, against 50% of 35-49 year olds and 41% of those under 35. year. In addition, 65% of those 50 and over are in favor of reducing the time limit to 4 months of the booster dose to converse a valid pass, against 41% of 35-49 years and 32% of those under 35.
