POLITICS – The soap opera continues. According to information from HuffPost, two deputies almost came to blows in the hemicycle on the night of Tuesday January 4 to Wednesday January 5, past two in the morning, just after the lifting of a new heated session on the bill vaccine pass, against the backdrop of a controversial interview with the Head of State Parisian.

This is the deputy Alexis Corbière, from rebellious France, who is not his first sparkle, and the rugby deputy LREM Francois Cormier-Bouligeon. So much so that they had to be separated by bailiffs and other elected officials who attended the scene. “I had never seen that, we had to separate them”, testifies a member quite shocked by the scene. “I said to myself: ‘it is really time we left the hemicycle, because we risk falling into something that is no longer very democratic’”, she testifies again to the HuffPost.

“This is not a glorious episode”

This exchange, worthy of an episode ofAsterix and Obelix, could have stopped there, but according to the concordant versions, the tone rises and the two deputies approach physically and fail to come to blows. “His eyes were bloodshot”, testifies Cormier-Bouligeon, “I would never have come to blows”, replies Corbière. “He was in total loss of control,” adds Cormier-Bouligeon. “He plays rugby, he was in the physical challenge,” continues Corbière. “I play rugby, I know how to put blows on a pitch but not in a hemicycle. He grabbed my arm, ”says Cormier-Bouligeon. “It’s not a glorious episode,” concludes Corbière.

It was finally the ushers and deputies from each side who came to separate them and everyone left the hemicycle, which saw others. On the sidelines of the debate on marriage for all, two elected officials had also had this kind of rapprochement specific to night sessions, but which does not grow either Parliament or the image that the French have of politics.
