The coronavirus pandemic also affected these New Year’s celebrations. Therefore, no big festivities are held on the squares of Slovak cities, the local governments have also canceled the magnificent fireworks that would welcome the year 2022.

In addition, during the New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Eve, there is still a night curfew. The police also checked the measures in the streets of the capital. It intervened in the center of Bratislava shortly before 10 pm. There was a group of Slovaks and foreign tourists drinking on the benches at Hviezdoslav Square.

The police legitimized them and reported them to the public health office for violating the curfew. It is valid with several exceptions only at night, ie from 8 pm. to 5.00 h. the following day.

The other squares in Bratislava were not completely empty either, but only small groups of people moved outside.

The people of Bratislava released their own fireworks, some of which were also visible from the Old Bridge. Small groups met here as well. Like last year, the big fireworks organized by the city did not take place.

We also went to the end-of-year celebrations in Donovaly. People met at the local ski resort at night during the ban, open establishments, bars and buffets.

We also encountered a police car, but we did not witness the intervention in this case.
