The backup of plastic bottles and cans has started in Slovakia. You get 15 cents for packaging, but it also has its exceptions – REFRESHER

The backup of plastic bottles and cans will start in Slovakia from Saturday. However, not all packaging will be refundable. This only applies to those who have a label “FROM”, therefore backed up. The condition for returning the bottles is that they are not damaged or compressed. The packaging must also have a lid.

Both bottles and cans will have a single deposit price of 15 cents. According to the Backup System Administrator, you will pay the deposit when you buy a drink. Upon return, you will receive this fee back in full. You can then use the money for the refund for a discount on the next purchase, or choose it as cash. This is the same principle as we know when buying beer in glass bottles.

The emblem of the backup bottles and cans will look like this. It will be the letter Z, which will be placed in the arrows. It will be placed near the barcode along with the text “backed up”.

All drinks from 0.1 to 3 liters will be backed up. These will be carbonated sweet drinks, non-carbonated sweet drinks, mineral waters, spring waters, infant waters, flavored waters, fruit juices, nectars, fruit drinks, iced teas, sports drinks, energy drinks, beer, cider, perry, radler and fruit wine.

Exceptions, however, are packaging for milk, syrups and hard alcohol. For stores larger than 300 square meters, backup will be required. Smaller shops have it as voluntary. Establishments will have a choice as to what type of backup packaging they will choose and which will pay off. They can choose automated collection via a backup, semi-automated or manual collection, which is done by the saleswoman at the cash register using a special hand-held scanner.

The goal of the backup system is to collect 90 percent of beverage packaging so that it can be recycled, used in the production of new packaging and not end up in the wild, in a landfill or in an incinerator.
