Russia: Supreme Court dissolves NGO Memorial, pillar of the defense of freedoms

A pillar of the defense of freedoms and guardian of the memory of the Gulag, the NGO Memorial will be liquidated, the Russian Supreme Court ordered on Tuesday.

The Russian Supreme Court ordered, Tuesday, December 28, the dissolution of the NGO Memorial, pillar of the defense of freedoms in contemporary Russia and guardian of the memory of the Gulag.

“The decision is to liquidate Memorial International and its regional branches,” the NGO announced on its Telegram account, seconds after the Supreme Court began issuing its decision.
