LOS ANGELES – “It’s the best Christmas present”. While the Christmas Eve fast approaching, Arnold Schwarzenegger has decided to celebrate it early. The actor revealed on Twitter this Thursday, December 23 that he had made a donation (worth $ 250,000, according to FOX 11) to the Village for Vets association, which was able to offer 25 mini houses to homeless veterans in western Los Angeles.

“It was fantastic spending time with our heroes and welcoming them to their new homes,” the actor and ex-governor of California wrote after visiting the location. “I thank Village for Vets for setting up these homes, the United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs, the American Veterans, and everyone who spoke, worked with us, and made it possible. We have proven that when we all work together we can solve any problem, ”he added.

“They have electricity, they have heating and air conditioning, it helps bring back a little pride,” said Rob Reynolds, longtime veterans advocate in West Los Angeles.

The Californian megalopolis has suffered for several years from a serious housing crisis, causing rents to rise. In 2018, the City of Angels recorded more than 36,000 homeless, a record in the country. It is therefore not uncommon to see these small houses multiply in certain places of the city. Temporary, they are made available so that the people concerned can then find permanent accommodation.
