Covid-19: seven times more derogatory work stoppages between All Saints’ Day and the start of the Christmas holidays – franceinfo

Exceptional work stoppages have been multiplied by seven in recent weeks, franceinfo learned on Friday, December 24. The Scientific Council fears a disorganization of the company from January because of the Omicron variant. For several weeks, there has been an increase in absenteeism in companies.

Between All Saints’ Day and the start of the Christmas holidays in 2021, Health Insurance issued seven times more derogatory work stoppages linked to Covid-19. Their number increased from 5,763 to 42,541.

The derogations concern only employees or the self-employed who cannot telework. They are compensated because they have to keep a positive child at home or because they are considered to be at high risk of developing a severe form or because they are in contact with the Omicron variant. In the latter case, they must isolate themselves, pending the PCR test, even if they are vaccinated. These derogatory work stoppages therefore do not concern employees positive for Covid-19.

The Health Insurance is not able to provide the number of sick leaves issued during the period, but according to the National Association of Human Resources Directors, they are increasing in all companies. For the moment this does not greatly disrupt activity, except at the SNCF where some trains are canceled and replaced by coach lines. Air France or RATP claim to not be impacted at this stage.
