LONDON. The United Kingdom has recorded more than 100,000 new confirmed cases in the last 24 hours coronavirus. This is the highest number since the beginning of the pandemic.

A total of 106,122 new cases have been reported in the past 24 hours. Thus, for the first time, the daily balance in the country exceeded one hundred thousand.

Another 140 deaths related to Covid-19 were reported. There are currently more than 8,000 people in the hospital, 849 of whom need the support of artificial lung ventilation.

The increase in the number of cases is due to a new one omicron variant, states the National Health Service.

BBC Television noted that the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has not yet announced whether the introduction of new measures after Christmas in order to prevent the rapid spread of a new more infectious variant.

According to the AFP agency, Britain is one of the most affected countries in terms of coronavirus in Europe. Since the start of the pandemic, authorities have confirmed nearly 150,000 victims of the covid, and tests have revealed more than 11 million cases.

The local government is urging the public not to hesitate and to be vaccinated with a third dose vaccines.
