Flu: Occitania placed in an epidemic phase, Gard and Hérault more severely affected – Midi Libre

All that was missing was her! The flu has arrived in Occitania. And in the region it is well established since we are the first in France to go into the so-called “epidemic” phase indicates this Wednesday, December 22, Public Health France.

Between last week and this week, the number of influenza-related hospitalizations increased by 71% across France, notes the organization. “In week 50, we observe a strong increase in indicators for influenza or influenza-like illness with 1,901 passages (vs. 1,213 in W49, or + 57%) and 171 hospitalizations (vs. 100 in W49, or + 71%)”.

Hérault and Gard particularly affected

“In Occitania, the continued increase in all influenza indicators, particularly in children under 15, implies the transition to the epidemic phase in S50”. “

Nevertheless, departmental disparities are observed with already high traffic levels in the east of the region (Hérault and Gard) and lower but increasing levels in the west of the region“, indeed indicates the health bulletin.

Occitanie is thus the first region in mainland France to cross the epidemic threshold. Overseas, Mayotte has also been in an epidemic phase for several weeks. While last week only Occitanie and Île-de-France were in the pre-epidemic phase, this week Public Health France also classified Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Center-Val-de-Loire, Nouvelle -Aquitaine and Ile-de-France in this category.
