Recently, however, there have been copies of cases where patients have been given a new date of surgery and still have a positive PCR test, even though they should have been healthy for a long time. According to many patients, this happened even a few months after the infection. In extreme cases, it was even half a year after the initial infection. It informed about it RTVS. “It can happen that the person who has tested positive goes out and tested repeatedly for 3-4 months. We met with such cases even after half a year still came out positive,” Zuzana Tornócziová, director of the Regional Office of Public Health in Prievidza, told the public media.

In this case, according to the hygienist, patients should focus on one important parameter of the PCR test. He points to human infectivity. This is a parameter called Ct, and the higher the value, the less infectious a person is. According to immunologist Miloš Jeseňák, in such a case, a person should be operated on despite the coronavirus positivity. “In the case of a high CT index and a long distance from the original PCR positivity, such a patient should not pose a major risk and should be operated on,” stated. According to experts, those who suffer from the same problem have another option – to ask their doctor to ask the laboratory for a complete test result. If the Ct value is higher than 35 and the patient has no symptoms, experts assume that despite the positivity, the person is not infectious and does not pose a risk to his surroundings.
