The announcement was made with great fanfare: Wear OS 3 was jointly developed by Google and Samsung. Thus, the South Korean giant was able to be the first to take advantage of this improved interface to connected watches on his Galaxy watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.

These two products nevertheless benefit from Wear OS 3 in Samsung style, that is to say with a One UI experience. In terms of design, this is not quite what will be offered to the rest of the users who own watches from other brands.

Indeed, as Mishaal Rashman explains (XDA Developers), Google discreetly updated its Wear OS 3.0 emulator on November 17; either quite recently. He also shares some screenshots.

Google quietly released an updated Wear OS 3.0 (Android 11) emulator image recently. Wear OS isn’t open source, so this is the only way to test the latest version apart from buying the Galaxy Watch 4.

The build date is Nov. 17, so it’s pretty fresh.

The build in question is always based on Android 11. The interface design therefore does not align with the Material You guidelines introduced with Android 12 on smartphones.

However, it is undoubtedly an interface with a very similar look that will be offered on the first Wear OS 3 watches other than Samsung in 2022. We are thinking in particular of the Pixel Watch which is always getting a little more talk about it. This one is also foreseen for the next year.

However, it is not excluded that Google has provided a special interface reserved for its watch.

Watches connected to Wear OS are gradually benefiting from an interesting change: the screen dedicated to operating system updates specifies which version of Android is used as well as the date of the security patch installed.
