Avalanche in Veľká Fatra, she claimed at least one victim on Monday. This was confirmed by Zuzana Hopjaková, a spokeswoman for the Air-Transport Europe Helicopter Rescue Medical Service, stating that two helicopters had intervened at the scene.

The avalanche fell in the area of ​​Suchá dolina, between the Ostredok and Krížna hills. Air rescuers gradually exported 13 mountain rescuers and five dogs looking for two men. They also dropped air ambulance doctors into the field. “After more than two hours, the first buried man at the age of 46 managed to dig out from the avalanche. Unfortunately, he showed no signs of life and the doctor on the spot stated death, “the spokeswoman said.

The second of the buried men has not yet been tracked. They resumed the rescue operation after dark due to the risk of falling another avalanche and the possible threat to the intervening rescuers. “We will continue the search on Tuesday (December 14) in the morning in cooperation with the Squadron of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic,” said mountain rescuers on the social network.

According to other published information, it was a pair of ski alpinists. The mass of snow was to completely cover them. Accident witnesses began searching the avalanche, but none of the victims had an avalanche search engine, which made it impossible for them to be located quickly.

Air rescue crews from Banská Bystrica and Žilina, mountain rescuers and handlers from Donovalov, Martin and Jasná intervened in the field. Polish mountain rescuers TOPR were also active, transporting a telephone locator with helicopters from Zakopane together with two rescuers.
