Apple launches Tracker Detect app for Android: what is it for? – Frandroid

Apple has just released the Tracker Detect app for Android. This app is a response to criticism from privacy advocates after AirTags market.

In June 2021, Apple had promised an Android application. Finally, this application was indeed released in 2021.

An issue raised by users is the inability to track down a AirTag if you don’t have an iPhone with you.

Finally, Apple has just rolled out an Android application named Tracker Detect (currently unavailable in Europe). It is designed to use the Find My network to locate and find a compatible Apple device, such as AirTags.

Identify an AirTag that can track you

If the Tracker Detector app locates an unknown AirTag, for example, it will be marked in the app as an “Unknown AirTag”. You can locate it to get your hands on it.

This is a response to criticism regarding privacy, many users complained that an AirTag can be used to track and track people.

If the AirTag is in “lost mode”, and you have an NFC-enabled smartphone, then you may receive instructions on how to return it to its owner. Apple said all communications are encrypted so that no one, including Apple, knows the location or identity of people or their devices.
