The management of the English Premier League has confirmed 42 new cases of coronavirus in the past week. This is the highest number of infections among team members since May 2020, when testing began. A similar number of positives were last seen at the beginning of January this year (40).

Covid-19 has erupted in several big clubs in recent days, including Manchester United, which may not play against Brentford on Tuesday due to illness.

The teams have already been instructed to tighten up measures, including wearing veils or keeping a safe distance, in line with the tightening measures in England. As a result of the new omikron variant, the league management also wants to intensify testing.

The coronavirus also complicates the situation with other major league clubs. To spread the plague in Tottenham, they canceled his European Conference League (EKL) match against Rennes and postponed the league duel with Brighton. Norwich and Aston Villa also report positive cases. The DPA informed.
