European Conference League draw: Tottenham just outside Slovakia – Športky.sk

NYON – Sparta Prague footballers will meet Partizan Belgrade in the playoffs for the eighth finals of the European Conference League 2021/2022. This was decided by Monday’s draw at the headquarters of the European Football Union (UEFA) in Nyon, Switzerland. Czech champion Slavia Prague will meet Fenerbahce Istanbul for a place in the elite 16.

The Greek POAK Thessaloniki, which eliminated the Bratislava Slavs in the basic group, is fighting FC Midtjylland for promotion. UEFA has yet to decide in the case of the English Tottenham Hotspur, which did not play the final match with the group with Rennes for the coronavirus in the team. It is therefore not yet clear whether the English or Vitesse Arnhem from the Netherlands will be in the barracks with the Slovak midfielder Matúš Ber. The draw was awarded to one of the two by the Vienna Rapid. The other pairs are Olympique Marseille – FK Karabach, PSV Eindhoven – Maccabi Tel Aviv, Leicester City – Randers FC and Celtic Glasgow – Bodo / Glimt.

The draw connected the second teams of the basic EKL groups with the teams from the third places of the EL groups, which were not deployed to it. Clubs from one country could not meet. The opening sessions of the round of the eight finals will take place on February 17, revenge a week later. The winners will advance to the elite sixteen, in which they will play with the eight winners of the basic groups, they will be defeated in the European club competitions.
The final is scheduled for May 25 next year in Tirana. Since this season, the rule of favorable goals from opponents’ fields has been abandoned in the elimination round. After 180 minutes, in the case of even results, an extension of 2×15 minutes will be played, if he does not decide in it, a shot from 11 m will follow.
