“I respect Valérie Pécresse but we can see that she is not unanimous among right-wing voters”, he assured, hinting that“a large part of right-wing voters vote for Emmanuel Macron, support him”. “She is a good candidate for Versailles, not for Tourcoing”, he mocked again, describing the president of the Île-de-France region as “very conservative”. “She is taken hostage by the most radical of her party “, also explained the guest of the Grand Jury.

Asked about the breakthrough of Valérie Pécresse in the latest polls after her victory at the LR congress, the Minister of the Interior played the card of procrastination. “Before the hour, it is not the hour”, underlines the former mayor of Tourcoing. “There are people who comment, the polls are there to participate in the comments, there are people who do, then there are free and democratic elections on a Sunday in April. During his interview, Gérald Darmanin nonetheless highlighted the proximity of some of Valérie Pécresse’s proposals to those of the majority. She “knows very well that what the President of the Republic is doing is a good thing. She has worked a lot with the government”, he recalls. “With Ms. Pécresse, we have convergences. But we unfortunately note that her new proposals are excessive, contrary to the law or already exist”, added the boss of Place Beauvau. “The difference between the President of the Republic and the other candidates, and particularly with Valérie Pécresse, is that he wants to unite the French.
