ST. MORITZ – Italian skier Federica Brignone won Sunday’s Super-G World Cup in St. Moritz, Switzerland Moritz. Behind her, compatriot Elena Curtoniová lost the eleven hundredths of a second, the leader of the overall classification, American Mikaela Shiffrin, took third place (+0.43 s).

The race started with a 40-minute delay. The jury had to postpone their start due to strong winds, the slopes started on the track from a lower point. Sunday’s races were less closed than Saturday’s races and contained more sliding passages that suited the thoroughbred slopes and especially the Italians. The team held up to five positions in the Top 10.

The home winner of Saturday’s race, Lara Gutová-Behramiová, was in green numbers with the starting number 7 in the first split. Subsequently, however, she lost her balance at great speed and flew into safety nets. She managed to break the menacing fall, and after a while she stood on her own. After a short break, Brignone showed the fastest ride on the jersey, celebrating her 17th triumph in the prestigious series and fifth in the super-G.

Sofia Goggio, the winner from Lake Louise and the second from Saturday’s super-G in St. Moritz, took 6th place and headed Gut-Behrami at the head of the discipline classification for a difference of 40 points. Shiffrin leads the overall standings by 90 points ahead of Goggio.

The third is with a shortage of 185 points to the American Petra Vlhová, who in St. Moritz didn’t start. During the Olympic season, the defender of the big crystal globe ordered a break, except for Lake Louise and St. Louis. Moritz will also miss the race in Val d’Isere and will be the next one in the World Cup on December 21 in a giant slalom in Courchevel, France.
