Floods in the South-West: the Landes and the Pyrénées-Atlantiques still vigilant orange – South West

After two days of heavy rainfall and stream overflows, the recession began largely on Saturday in the southwest. Caution remains however in order and four departments remain in orange vigilance for the risks of floods: the Landes, the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, the Gers and the Hautes-Pyrénées.

Vigicrues has placed the Adour medium, the Adour des Barthes and the Bec des Gaves in orange vigilance, most of the other rivers have returned to yellow.

On the average Adour, Vigicrues still predicted a level of between 2.80 m and 3.20 m at Aire-sur-l’Adour, overnight from Saturday to Sunday. In Saint-Sever, the water level should be between 1.7 m and 2.1 m this Sunday.

L’Adour at a maximum level in the night

At Pontonx, the Adour will progress until the night from Sunday to Monday and could reach a level between 4.5 m and 4.8 m. But damaging overflows should not be crossed, specifies Vigicrues in his vigilance bulletin. In Dax, the Adour was to cross the damaging overflows during the night from Saturday to Sunday and could reach a maximum level of around 4.5 m and 5.2 m during the night from Sunday to Monday.

On the Bec du Gave, the drop continues at a rate of around 4 cm per hour at Peyrehorade, where the maximum level was reached on Friday around 11 p.m. with a height of 5.52 m.

Finally, in the mountains, the Pyrenean departments have gone back to yellow alert for an avalanche risk, which remains very high in the east of the massif as well as in the north of the Alps.
