On Wednesday, after the government meeting, the Minister of Health Vladimír Lengvarský surprised by saying that during the holidays there will be a ban on visits and the creation of so-called christmas bubbles. The Council considers the set of measures taken to be a political decision.

According to him, the final measures in force are the result of political talks, but they also largely respect the opinion of the Council. “The final form is similar, although it is not entirely in line with the council, but in my opinion it does not go so completely against what the council proposed.” said Lengvarsky. We asked the ministry if they planned to reconsider, but what Lengvarsky said after the government meeting still applies.

Sulík suggests that the visit ban be reconsidered

The Minister of Economy and SaS leader Richard Sulík will propose to reconsider the measure in connection with the visits of loved ones during the Christmas holidays, he said on social networks. He claims that the government did not vote on it. “There was no vote at the government’s meeting yesterday for banning family reunions. I propose to reconsider such a regulation.” said Sulík.

According to him, it does not make sense to forbid the family from meeting. “It’s stupid,” said Sulík. “I claim that this has explicitly escaped attention. I want to believe and I hope the Minister of Health sees it the same way and we will find a remedy soon,” he added.

The government office confirmed that the government should reconsider the visit ban at future government meetings. This is not a final opinion. If the situation worsens, measures will be tightened. Lengvarský set a new critical limit for hospitalizations. “If we cross the 3800 limit, measures will be tightened and the benefits for the vaccinated and outdated will be abolished.” said Lengvarský.
