Covid-19: Paid by antivax, a New Zealander receives 10 injections of the vaccine in one day – LCI

In May 2021, an Italian had mistakenly received six doses of the vaccine, but her record was broken. In New Zealand, a man has been the subject, since Friday, December 10, of an investigation by the Ministry of Health after he received 10 injections against Covid-19 in a single day.

The man in question was allegedly paid by several people who sought to falsify their vaccination records and bypass health requirements, according to the national media New Zealand Herald To accomplish his mission, the inhabitant would then have visited several vaccination sites and would have passed themselves off as them.

At the Ministry of Health, we take the matter very seriously. “Having an inaccurate immunization status puts you not only at risk, but also your friends, family and community, as well as the healthcare teams who treat you now and in the future,” points out Astrid Koornneef, head of group operations for the vaccine and vaccination program against Covid-19. “Doctors operate in an environment of high trust and rely on people to act in good faith to share information accurately to help them with their treatment,” she adds.

What do we know about the medical risks of an overdose of the Covid-19 vaccine? For the moment, no data exists on this subject but “we know that people have already mistakenly received five whole doses in a vial instead of being diluted abroad and that there have been no long-term problems,” reassures vaccinologist Helen Petousis-Harris at New Zealand Heraldbefore qualifying this behavior as“incredibly selfish”.

The only risks, she warns, are to multiply the side effects (pride, pain and headaches). To prevent any risk, Astrid Koornneef urges for her part “people who have received more doses of the vaccine than recommended” at “seek clinical advice as soon as possible”.

To date, nearly 80% of New Zealand’s population has received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, including 94% of the eligible population. The country adopted strict public health restrictions at the start of the pandemic and had very few cases until a summer wave was triggered by the emergence of the Delta variant.
