VAL D’ISERE – Swiss skier Marco Odermatt triumphed in Saturday’s giant slalom SP in the French resort of Val d’Isere. Alexis Pinturault finished second with a loss of 59 hundredths of a second, and Manuel Feller from Austria was third (+1.24 s). Slovak Adam Žampa gained SP points in the overall classification for the second time in the current season, when he took 26th place with a loss of 5.08 seconds to the victorious Odermatt.

He scored five points in the evaluation, with three of them from the October glacier overture in Sölden, Austria. His brother Andreas Žampa did not advance to the 2nd round, he was classified in the 42nd place. Odermatt increased his lead at the top of the overall SP classification thanks to his seventh career triumph and a 16th overall podium finish. He is already 136 points ahead of Matthias Mayer from Austria. This season was his second triumph in the discipline, and in Sölden the “giant” became his prey.
