Elected officials and the Collective agree on a method agreement – Guadeloupe – Overseas the 1st

The meeting between elected officials and the collective of organizations struggling with the economic and social health crisis in Guadeloupe lasted 15 hours and ended with the signing of a method agreement around 1 a.m. thus launching the first negotiations on Tuesday

The evening was long in twists and turns but also in statements of stages proving the harshness of the discussions which, despite everything, were never interrupted.
Proof of the determination of each other on each side of the table at the Cité des Métiers in Raizet, to achieve this agreement on method.

And shortly after 1 am, the announcement is made of a joint signature of the method agreement drawn up during these discussions.

Negotiations will therefore begin on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 around thematic workshops for conclusions at the end of 2021.
The parties agreed to organize the negotiations in two phases

Phase 1 will allow urgent claims to be addressed and phase 2 will deal with the processing of other points on the platform, always with the presence of the State. The signatories have chosen around fifteen themes, including health, youth, family, dear life, etc.

The path to reach this agreement will therefore not have been obvious. But for the elected officials, it was important to reach such an agreement. It shows in any case that the Guadeloupe can get along for the good of Guadeloupe. It now remains to convince the State to take its place and assume its responsibilities in the negotiations which will be able to begin. Twists and turns … and at the end of a long day of discussion, a signature …

For the time being, the government remains on the position asserted by the Minister for Overseas Territories; Sébastien Lecornu had specified in advance that no ministerial delegation will be sent to Guadeloupe.
