Yannick Agnel accused of rape: the swimmer was in dispute with the father of his alleged victim

Thursday, December 9, 2021, at the end of the day, Yannick Agnel was arrested at his home and then taken into police custody. The latter was also extended the next day. He is heard by the investigators whilehe is accused of rape and sexual assault on a minor. The case dates back to 2016, when the former professional swimmer was training at the Mulhouse Olympic Natation (MON) under the leadership of Lionel Horter. The declared victim is the latter’s daughter, and was 13 years old at the time of the alleged facts. While at the same time the French Short Course Championships are being held, in Montpellier, The Parisian has managed to get some confidences of trainer or volunteers. In its edition of Saturday, December 11, 2021, there is a certain Cédric who assures that Yannick Agnel is in conflict with the father of his alleged victim.

“We know that he had trouble for a long time with Lionel Horter, but we avoid talking about it“, he confided. Indeed, since the end of his professional career in 2016, Yannick Agnel and his former club are in dispute. The former swimmer criticizes his former club for not respecting a part of the contract by not paying it its last year for an amount of 60,000 euros. If the case has been decided, it will once again be judged as an appeal trial has been requested and it will take place in March 2022.

Yannick Agnel faces a 20-year prison sentence

In the meantime, it is in another case, much more delicate, in which the athlete is currently heard. If he is found guilty of the acts with which he is accused, he faces a sentence of 20 years of criminal imprisonment. For the time being, Yannick Agnel is presumed innocent.
