TV SERIES – Definitely, the launch of And Just Like That on HBO Max this Thursday, December 9 does not stop making a stir in the United States. After having devastated fans from the first episode, the revival of Sex and the City now makes the stock market tremble.

In the first episode of this new season, available in France on Salto, the iconic character Mr. Big (played by Chris Noth) is indeed the victim of a heart attack after an intense exercise session on his Peloton exercise bike.

The luxury brand, clearly identifiable in the scene, struggled to cope with the event and saw its Wall Street share price drop by more than 10% in pre-market electronic trading. . Friday, around noon in New York, the title was down 5.37% to 38.62 dollars.

Platoon was “not aware”

The group forwarded to Los Angeles Times the reaction of Dr Suzanne Steinbaum, renowned cardiologist and member of the scientific board of Peloton. “Mr. Big had a lifestyle that many would call extravagant, ”commented the specialist,“ with cocktails, cigars and big steaks, and was at serious risk because he suffered a first heart attack in season 6. ”

“This choice of lifestyle and perhaps family history, which is often a significant factor, are the causes of his death,” continued the doctor, not the fact of having used an exercise bike. “Pedaling his Peloton bike may even have helped delay this heart attack.”

Peloton also added to BuzzFeed that “HBO got a Peloton bike on its own” and that the brand “knew that one of its bikes would be used during this episode (…) but that for reasons of confidentiality HBO n ‘had not specified in what context around its use ”.

According to Bloomberg, the saga Sex and the City is not, however, responsible for all the ills of Peloton. Far from there. The company had already seen a 73% drop with the easing of containment since the start of the year, with people returning to outdoor sports.
