In the past 24 hours, more than 51,000 people have been vaccinated in Hungary, the vast majority of whom have already received the third dose of the vaccine, Orbán said in a regular Friday interview with public radio station Kossuth Rádió.

Regarding the vaccination of children over the age of five, Orbán emphasized that scientists had unequivocally confirmed that it was not dangerous. According to him, such a step is necessary to slow down the pandemic, because the most unvaccinated are responsible for the spread of coronavirus. Vaccination of children against covid will begin in Hungary on 15 December. “Only a vaccinated family can sit together without fear on Christmas Eve,” Orbán said.

The coronavirus variant of omicron laboratories has not yet been discovered

Laboratories have not yet detected a sample to confirm the presence of the coronavirus variant omicron in Hungary. Zoltán Kis, a virologist at the National Health Center (NNK), said this on public television M1 on Friday. “From reports from neighboring countries, however, it is possible to assume that a new coronavirus mutation will soon appear in our country as well,” said Kis, who clarified that the omicron is already present and is spreading not only among passengers in Croatia, Romania, the Czech Republic, but has also appeared in Estonia and Lithuania.

According to him, the important question still remains whether the disease caused by omicron is milder than it was in the case of previous coronavirus mutations, because it can significantly affect the next epidemic wave.
