VIDEO Tragic truck accident claimed at least 53 victims: Driver transported migrants – Topky.sk

The Mexican Attorney General’s Office announced that, according to preliminary information, 53 people had lost their lives. The condition of the other three injured people is serious.

The accident happened on Thursday afternoon on a road in the Mexican state of Chiapas. A video taken at the scene of the accident captures dead and injured migrants on a hill in an overturned truck semi-trailer, the AP writes.

Luis Manuel Moreno, chief of the Chiapas Civil Protection Agency, said the truck’s speed and weight could cause the truck to overturn. Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard wrote on Twitter that the victims included people from different countries. He also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.
