On Thursday morning, after long vicissitudes and endless debates, Parliament approved the proposal of the Minister of Finance Igor Matovič (OĽaNO) and the Speaker of the Parliament Boris Kollár (We are a family) on the financial motivation of the most risky group of the population. The original proposal to give each vaccinated pensioner a voucher for various services worth € 500 approved a financial incentive of up to € 300. The overwhelming majority of parliament, including the deputies around Petr Pellegrini (Voice-SD), were in favor. In addition, a new form of measures was approved by the government on Wednesday, which greatly benefits the already vaccinated and outdated Slovaks.

According to data analyst Jakub Tillinger, Slovakia is one big Kocúrková. He pointed out that to date, there are almost 680,000 people in the age group over 50, which ranks among the most vulnerable. And it is these people who keep the country “in check”, with 17 percent of them most likely ending up in hospitals. Unvaccinated people over the age of 50 make up the vast majority of hospitalized patients with severe coronavirus conditions. “One third of fellow citizens over the age of 50 not vaccinated, two thirds vaccinated,” Tillinger clarified.

From September 1 to Saturday, December 4, a total of 9,980 coronavirus patients over the age of 50 were hospitalized in hospitals, of which 7,262 were not vaccinated. The most unvaccinated in the age category of 60 to 69 years – 2929. Subsequently, they were seniors up to 80 years – there were 2947 in a given period of time. In addition, up to 1070 unvaccinated patients ended up with artificial lung ventilation. If we looked at vaccinated patients who ended up in pulmonary support, we would find that there were 169 of them.

According to Tillinger, an estimated 680,000 nearly 400,000 are not immunized, so neither vaccinated nor coronavirus can be overcome. “Of these, about 67,105 people will need to be hospitalized and about 6,700 of them will have artificial lung ventilation. Thousands more will die. Tillinger stated. He also pointed to another serious problem – and that is people under the age of 50, who are slowly shortening their six-month revaccination period.

And there are about half a million of those people. They should receive a booster dose during December and January, but so far it is not certain whether we will receive it in time. “Will we get it? Because you in the coalition did not come with motivation until December? Does anyone communicate with local governments? Are we finally increasing vaccination capacities? “Are we chasing?” asks a data analyst.
