Kia Sportage: Žilina SUV has Slovak prices. The damage can be prevented – PRAVDA.sk

Kia introduced a specific European version of the fifth-generation Sportage in September and launched production in Žilina in November. Now we know the prices. The basic version with a 1.6-cylinder 1.6 T-GDi starts from 22,690 euros.

We are used to the fact that Kia Sportage is from Slovakia. Its third generation was produced here. However, the new one is quite different. For the first time in history, the Korean brand has prepared a specific version for the European market, which differs from the Asian one in design and dimensions. However, the format has not changed much compared to the previous Sportage, despite the fact that the basis is a completely new N3 platform. The Sportage is 4,515 mm long, 1,865 mm wide and 1,645 mm high. It is therefore only 30 mm longer and only an inch wider and higher. It is also the same with an axle wheelbase of 2,680 mm, where only 10 mm has been added.

But the design is radically different. It is based on the new stylistic philosophy of Opposites United, ie on the unity of opposites. The front mask extends across the entire width. It is lined with boomerang day diodes as well as integrated lights with a matte background. At the rear, the dynamically shaped rear pillar, into which the roof spoiler bar cuts, cuts out. The rear lights are connected by a thin LED strip. There is also a new logo. A complete novelty is the possibility to choose a contrasting black roof. Wheels with a diameter of 17 to 19 inches are ready for the Sportage.

The interior has also undergone a radical change. A rarity in particular is the large curved display, which contains up to two 12.3-inch screens from the electric Kie EV6. So far, only Porsche or BMW uses this technology. Infotainment will be possible to control by touch, voice, but also by a controller in the middle tunnel. It will also allow software updates, remote connection and control of some vehicle functions, as well as extensive use of applications. The Sportage offers more space in the cabin than in the past, and this also applies to its 591-liter trunk. After folding the backrests divided in a ratio of 40: 20: 40, the total usable volume will increase to 1,780 liters.

Diesel and petrol engines will appear under the hood, along with economical mild-hybrid or hybrid technology. A plug-in hybrid will be added later. At the start of the sale, customers can choose either the 1.6 T-GDi 4-cylinder petrol engine (110 kW, 132 kW) or the 1.6 CRD-i85 diesel engine (100 kW), also in mild-hybrid versions. A 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission will be available. Mild hybrids also receive an intelligent iM6 manual transmission with an automatic clutch. For more powerful diesel and both versions of gasoline engines, both 4 × 4 axles are ready. The hybrid version of the HEV has a system power of 169 kW and can also be an ATV.

The Sportage will be available in four trim levels – Silver, Gold, Platinum and GT-Line. The basic version of the 1.6 T-GDi (110 kW) with front-wheel drive, 6-speed manual and Silver equipment level starts at 22,690 euros. Silver basically features 17-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, cruise control, automatic high beam switching, front full-LED lights, reversing camera, power windows, mirrors, heated steering wheel and seats, armrest, 8-inch infotainment screen or manual air conditioning.

Gold adds 18-inch wheels, LED front fog lights, front and rear parking sensors, heated rear seats, three-zone automatic climate control, 12.3-inch navigation. Platinum goes even further. Sportage will be enriched especially with assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, blind spot mirror monitoring and adaptive lights. You will also find ambient interior lighting, keyless access and start-up, electric trunk opening, a curved display or wireless charging of smartphones.

The GT-Line version is based on the highest Platinum level, but its great advantage is the unmissable GT-Line exterior package including 19-inch discs, but also the adaptive ECS chassis, 360-degree camera, leather steering wheel, aluminum pedals, Harman / Kardon audio with eight speakers or a system to prevent collisions when reversing. It is possible to purchase additional Park Pack, Sound Pack, Premium Pack or Panorama Pack s for individual levels. A contrasting roof is available at an additional cost.

The cheapest 4×4 version is linked to the 1.6 T-GDi (110 kW) mild-hybrid version with the iM6 intelligent manual transmission and the Gold trim level. It costs from 28,590 euros. You will pay at least 24,190 euros for the diesel version of Active and 30,790 euros for diesel with 4 × 4 drive in the Gold equipment level. These are prices that can be taken up by competitors as well. For example, the Škoda Karoq, which does not offer such a wide portfolio of versions, and is also slightly smaller. However, it is true that Sportage also became significantly more expensive between generations. When Kia launched its fourth-generation Sportage in 2016, customers could afford it from € 19,490.
