The media giant controlled by Vincent Bolloré has announced that it intends to acquire Amber Capital’s share in the coming days in Lagardere (17.5%) at a price of 24.10 euros per share.

Vivendi will hold 45.1% of Lagardère’s capital once the transaction is completed. He plans to launch by February 2022 a public tender offer (takeover bid) at 24.10 euros on the balance of the capital of the media and distribution group that he does not own.

An operation which represents an enterprise value of 4 billion euros, including the debt of Lagardère. The Lagardère share is based on the price offered and is up 4.3%. For its part, the Vivendi title remains stable.

Awaiting the green light from the competent authorities

Vivendi has decided to accelerate the takeover of Lagardère (Hachette, Europe 1, RFM, Virgin, Paris Match, Journal du Dimanche), on which it announced a takeover bid on September 15. But the operation is not yet acquired. It must obtain the green light from the European Competition Authority and the Superior Audiovisual Council (CSA).

The takeover of Hachette will be carefully examined while Vivendi already owns Editis. The first two French publishing houses would therefore belong to the same group, which can pose a problem for the authority.
