Presidential 2022: What do the polls say after Valérie Pécresse’s victory at the LR Congress? – 20 minutes

Some changes have appeared in the main polling institutes since the appointment of Valérie Pécresse as a candidate for the right in the second round of the Republican Congress.

Voting intentions in the first round of the 2022 presidential election

According to Harris Interactive, Emmanuel Macron would remain largely in the lead with 23% of the voting intentions. However, the institute has made slight progress in favor of Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Eric Zemmour. Valérie Pécresse meanwhile made a good + 4% in the polls. The situation is a little different for Ifop-Fiducial with a strong breakthrough for Valérie Pécresse who would go from 10% to 17% of voting intentions in the first round. The main losers are on the side of
Eric Zemmour and Marine Le Pen. The latter would be followed by Valérie Pécresse from the first round of the election.

Finally according to the Elabe institute, Valérie Pécresse would record up to 20% of voting intentions in the first round. According to this scenario, she would catch up with Emmanuel Macron who stands at 23% and would manage to distance herself from Marine Le Pen who would stand at only 15% of voting intention.

Second round hypothesis: Emmanuel Macron vs Valérie Pécresse

For its first publication in the hypothesis of such a scenario, the Elabe institute would give Valérie Pécresse as victorious in a second round in the presidential election. This would collect 52% of voting intentions against 48% for Emmanuel Macron.

Ifop-Fiducial and Harris-Interactive for their part still give Emmanuel Macron as the winner of the second round with 52% and 53% of voting intentions respectively.

In any case, the appointment of Valérie Pécresse as an LR candidate has reduced the gap between the two candidates and allows the dynamic of the Republicans to be revived in the race for the Elysee Palace.
