Get ready for the most abundant snow. Meteorologists’ predictions suggest that in some places, especially in the west, it will fall to 30 centimeters of fresh snow in a few hours. While western Slovakia will be covered with snow, there will be more rain in the east and snow calamity is not expected here.

Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute issued a 2nd degree warning for snowfall on Thursday (December 9). In the districts of Bratislava, Pezinok, Malacky, Senica, Myjava, Piešťany and Trnava, up to 30 cm of snow could fall.

The first snowfall is expected in the second half of the following night. By morning, it will snow all over western Slovakia, where freezing precipitation could occasionally fall. During the morning, it will start snowing in central Slovakia, he informs imeteo.sk.

By noon on Thursday (December 9), western Slovakia could be under a layer of fresh snow up to three centimeters high. However, it will not become more interesting until the afternoon, when the snowfall begins to increase. It will snow heavily throughout the western half of the afternoon and evening, with an intensity of 2-2.5 cm per hour.

Precipitation will start to stop from the southwest until Friday (December 10) in the morning, and several areas of our territory will wake up to a very snowy morning, which will also bring traffic complications. In western Slovakia, the temperature should still be around 0 ° C during the snowfall and the snow cover will not melt significantly.

On Saturday, expect light rain and temperatures from -2 to +3 degrees. On Sunday, it will snow again in the east and gradually in many places. Temperatures will range from -1 to 4 degrees.
