Comment: MFK Ružomberok goes against the trend and everything works – ŠPORT.sk

We have played 17 rounds in the Fortuna League and it would be very bold to say that something similar to the 2005/06 season is being born to us. At the end of it, MFK Ružomberok enjoyed a historic “double”.

The flag will probably not be flown at Čebrať after the current year, but fans of “roses” and memorials will certainly remember Ján Nezmar. And now we can say with peace of mind that Ružomberok is clearly the most pleasant surprise of the season.

Who would have said that before the league started? Probably not the most optimistic. There are few people who guessed that MFK will be at the top of the competition shortly before the end of the autumn. That he will be close behind the other Trnava and that he will cause problems for every single participant in the league. And no difference.

Even more pleasant, however, the position of the “orange-black” in the league is not a coincidence. It is the result of the very well done work of the coaching staff around Petr Struhár. By the way, the coaching novice.

Of course, we must not forget that the former tracker of Slovan Bratislava, Petržalka or Dunajská Streda took over after the departure of Ján Haspra Jr. and Marek Saparu a well-prepared team. However, this does not mean that it was enough for him to keep the Ružomberok engine at operating temperature. “Rose” didn’t take off any of the chips. On the contrary, he fertilized it well.

At that time, the Ružomberok team was just getting acquainted with the new vision of football, as the duo Struhár – Tomko tried to change some things after taking over the team. Today we can say that several ideas are already embedded in MFK players.

Not only systemic, but the whole team is physically excellently prepared, compact and organized, which is clearly seen in every meeting. And it doesn’t matter if Ružomberok faces Liptovský Mikuláš or Slovan Bratislava. At the same time, Petr Struhár’s team can feel great self-confidence and determination. Everything, of course, in high intensity.

Let’s take a brief look at the statistics – Ružomberok is the second strongest team in the league and is in the same position in the number of goals collected. MFK, like Slovan, has scored 12 goals so far, only one more than Spartak Trnava. For the players, let’s mention Martin Regáli, who is moving more on the left side instead of the tip from last season.

The 28-year-old Prešov citizen already has a balanced goal account from the previous year. He hit seven times and if he continues in the established form, it may be statistically his most successful season.

MFK Ružomberok, under the leadership of Petr Sruhár, is taking a very sharp step, when he won in Žilina, he defeated the master Slovan at home, but he equipped Trenčín, Trnava and Michalovce in the same way after 3: 0.

Players in orange jerseys enjoy football on the field and are determined to fight for every blade of grass. Even more pleasant about all this is that under Čebrať, only Slovak players are explicitly worked on. The only legionnaire is Northern Macedonian Tihomir Kostadinov, who, however, was absent from the MFK team in the last three matches.

This is another very positive fact. This is not the first season in which Ružomberok is walking on the Slovak sidewalk and thus goes against the still very popular trend of unknown and often second- to third-class legionnaires. Whether we are talking about teams from the top or bottom of the Fortuna League table. Ružomberok is unique in this respect and there are no plans to change anything in the future.

Until the end of the autumn part of the season, two more matches remain to be played, five duels until the finish of the basic part. We can already state that Ružomberok is comfortably walking in order to finish in the best “six”.

However, the question is whether we have seen performances approaching their maximum from Lipták, or whether a more pronounced spring awaits us and the “rose” blooms even more. The answer will, of course, come from the next round. Let’s not forget how ViOna Zlaté Moravce-Vráble did last season and where the team from Zittau is today.
