Switzerland deploys army to help fight covid – SME.sk

GENEVA. The Swiss government has approved the army’s deployment to help hospitals and vaccination centers and will also help transport patients Covid-19. The government in Bern announced this on Tuesday, quoted by the DPA news agency.

The cantons will also be able to request additional support from a reserve of 2,500 troops if their own personnel reserves are not enough. Hospitals in some areas are already using almost all their capacities.

Nearly a third of patients in intensive care units in Switzerland are fighting the covid, according to the Federal Office of Public Health.

This is the third mobilization of military personnel in Switzerland since the beginning of the pandemic, before the troops were deployed in the spring and autumn of 2020.

In the last 14 days, almost 1,270 people per 100,000 people have been infected with covid in Switzerland. They do not calculate a seven-day incidence in the country.

The vaccination rate in Switzerland is currently 66 percent.
