JUSTICE – Man suspected of slightly injuring far-right presidential candidate Eric Zemmour grabbing him during its meeting on Sunday in Villepinte (Seine-Saint-Denis) will be presented to an examining magistrate on Wednesday, the Bobigny prosecutor, Éric Mathais, announced on Tuesday, December 7.

According to information from RTL and BFMTV, this man is inserted at Les Républicains since the beginning of November.

He is accused of having caused an injury to the wrist of the polemicist by grabbing him in the middle of the jubilant crowd during his meeting on Sunday at the Parc des Expositions, the first of his presidential campaign.

Arrested in the wake, his police custody was lifted on Tuesday for presentation the next day to an examining magistrate, the Bobigny prosecutor’s office said in the evening.

According to information from CNews, the man said during his hearing that he was one of Eric Zemmour’s supporters and that he just wanted to shake his hand. He would have climbed on a chair to achieve this, before falling on him (see images below).

Placement under judicial supervision

“The opening of a (judicial) investigation will be required against him on the count of willful violence resulting in an ITT of more than eight days, facts having been committed with premeditation, in a state of legal recidivism”, declared in a press release on Bobigny attorney Eric Mathais.

The prosecution will also seek the placement under judicial control of the accused, with a ban from coming into contact with Eric Zemmour or carrying a weapon, he added.

Of the sixty initial police custody “following arrests on the sidelines and before the meeting”, the six which had been extended were lifted on Tuesday and “the procedure sent to the prosecution for assessment of the follow-up to be given”, explained Eric Mathais.

In a parallel procedure linked to this political rally, the Bobigny public prosecutor’s office is also leading an investigation into the violence committed against activists of SOS Racism came to protest in the room against the candidate.

The two investigations into the violence inside the meeting of Eric Zemmour in Villepinte are entrusted to the departmental security.
