It’s decided, Blanche Gardin stops the comedy, the mockery, to devote herself only to her well-being! At least in “The Best Version of myself”, a squeaky and divisive series where, in the form of a false documentary, she smashes the ambient narcissism.
She leaves the stage, goes into the basement of the theater, enters her dressing room, takes off her costume, removes make-up. In the reflection of the mirror, we see a cameraman filming her. Blanche Gardin will share with a film crew – and with us – her new existential quest: stop comedy, irony, mockery, at the origin of all these bad vibes that ruin her health, and seek the good – be at all costs. Visits to the naturopath, family settling of accounts, sorority weekend between feminists… she is reorganizing her life before our dumbfounded eyes. The Best Version of myself, written, produced and performed by the comedian, adopts the format of the false documentary to defeat the navel-gazing of contemporary society. A first series that we discover between jubilation, embarrassment and amazement, amazed by his biases and his freedom of tone.
At the origin of the project, discussions between Blanche Gardin and her producer, Marine Bergère, met during the filming of Problemos, by Éric Judor (2017). “We regularly sent each other articles on personal development, and we laughed at the way people portray themselves on social networks”, remembers the latter. They think for a moment to make a film, but finally opt for a series.
