The situation around the so-called The lockdown, which has been in force in Slovakia since last Thursday, will be re-evaluated this Friday or Saturday. This was stated on Wednesday by the Minister of Health Vladimír Lengvarský (OĽANO nominee) after the government meeting.

The number of daily coronavirus infections increases uncomfortably even during the lockdown. There were 9534 positive testers last day. As many as 85 victims have died in Covid. Of the new infections, 73 percent were not vaccinated.

The current number of patients with COVID-19 in hospitals is 3380. There are 585 patients in the ICU, 281 people need support for artificial lung ventilation. “Eighty-two percent of patients are not vaccinated or have only one dose of vaccine.” said the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Health Zuzana Eliášová.

Lengvarský also returned to the new Omikron variant. According to the minister, it will take several weeks before they have more information about the Omikron variant of the new coronavirus. He sees the meaning in the current regulation that upon arrival in Slovakia, a mandatory quarantine applies to all persons who have returned from the countries of South Africa, Israel, Hong Kong or the Seychelles in the last 14 days.
