How to receive your vaccine booster dose? A few months after the start of the first vaccination campaign, the question arises again with the opening of the third dose to the entire population over 18 years of age.

However, following Emmanuel Macron’s announcement, the slots available on Doctolib were taken by storm. However, alternative solutions to this platform make it possible to find an appointment despite everything, although a waiting period is sometimes imposed.

At his general practitioner

As of October 1, 2021, the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine can be injected in the city office. Your doctor can therefore give you this booster dose if you ask for it. Some people sometimes devote a time to vaccination during their week. According to estimates by Jérôme Marty, doctor and president of the French Union for Free Medicine, 70% of professionals offer vaccination slots.

To the drugstore

The pharmacies are also participating in this vaccination campaign since it is also possible to receive a booster dose there. If the slots are sometimes all reserved on online platforms, some pharmacists keep slots for their customers. In any case, this is what Lionel Benmoussa does. “The old people that we know, the people who have computer difficulties, the people of the neighborhood, those who call … we never say no, but there can be a small delay”, details this pharmacist in the Hauts-de-Seine.

Via other booking platforms

If with the health crisis, Doctolib has become essential, some vaccination centers are still registered on other online medical appointment booking platforms such as Keldoc, Ordoclic, MaPharma, Maiia or even AvecMonDoc. All these solutions have also been centralized by the site QuickMyDose, which allows you to locate the available niches near your home.

Few slots are available, because the rate of vaccination had slowed down until then. Pharmacies like doctors did not necessarily have a sufficient stock of doses and some vaccination centers have closed. Before the fifth wave, nearly 1,100 vaccination centers had remained open in France against more than 1,600 previously.

The Minister of Health, however, assured that 300 places would reopen their doors in the coming weeks in order to “strengthen the offer of vaccination”. 50 have already reopened on Tuesday.
