Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Greek Prime Minister: “We have important differences with Turkey”

In an interview with France 24, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis downplays tensions with neighboring Turkey before meeting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday at the NATO summit. Asked about the issue of migrants, he explains that Greece “will defend its borders” while Turkey “encourages tens of thousands of people to cross the Greek border illegally.” Finally, he appealed to tourists, assuring that Greece is a “safe country” which has shown itself capable “of managing the pandemic in a better way than many European countries”.
