The Supreme Court released the oligarch Jozef Brhel – Denník N

The Supreme Court released Jozef Brhell, he no longer sees the reasons for the collusion. He thus annulled the resolution of the judge of the Specialized Criminal Court, Ružena Sabová, who originally extended the detention.

At the same time, the 1T Senate of the Supreme Court rejected the prosecutor’s proposal to extend the period of detention, as well as the complaint of the prosecutor of the Special Prosecutor’s Office against the decision of the judge for preparatory proceedings of the Specialized Criminal Court of 23 November. Based on the ruling of the Constitutional Court, the Senate also annulled the decision of the Judge for the Preparatory Proceedings of the Specialized Criminal Court of 12 May.

Brhel, known for his contacts with Smer, is suspected of leading an organized group that benefited from manipulated IT contracts in financial administration during Smer’s government for more than 65 million euros. The key witnesses in this case are the businessman Michal Suchoba, who profited from IT contracts and allegedly shared the profit with Brhel, but also with the former head of taxpayers, František Imrecz. Both are also accused.

Brhel is also accused of accepting a bribe. Back in November 2013, he allegedly took 40,000 euros as a commission from successful bidders in public procurement. It allegedly happened in the office on the tenth floor of the Double Tree by Hilton hotel.
