In a press release, Slovenská pošta draws attention to fraudsters who are trying to lure money away from Slovaks. The mail has already registered 30 different types of fraudulent e-mails, which give the impression that they come from it. Efforts for such a so-called however, phishing also occurs in the form of SMS messages.

Recipients are usually asked to make early payments for the delivery of the shipment, or changes in addresses and storage of shipments. However, speculators also try it with imaginary announcements about the need to pay customs duties, the possibility of winning competitions or surveys.

“Slovenská pošta never demands payment of any fees via e-mails or SMS, not even for customs procedures or VAT. The client pays for the shipment either when ordering the goods or when taking over the shipment at the post office, courier or in the PackageBOX. The same applies to the payment of customs duties and value added tax – the client pays them when taking over the shipment, ” the Post in the statement.

Postmen also urge Slovaks to be careful. The basic rules apply, which are the same as for defense against other types of similar attacks – always check the exact address of the sender of the e-mail, as it may contain minor typos – instead of “@ posta.sk” for example @ posta-office.sk “and so on. Attacks from other countries are also often revealed by broken “translator” Slovak and grammatical errors.
