CINEMA – The Gucci family is on the move. The heirs of the Italian luxury house Gucci threatened this Monday, November 29 to sue legal action against Ridley Scott’s film House of Gucci, whom they accuse of portraying family members as “hooligans”.

The film takes up one of the most resounding news items of Italy of the 1990s, the assassination of Maurizio Gucci (played by Adam Driver), heir to the Italian house, sponsored by his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga).

“Ignorant hooligans, insensitive to the world around them”

“The Gucci family reserves the right to take any initiative to protect its name and image, as well as those of its relatives,” indicates a letter published by the Italian news agency ANSA and signed by the heirs of Aldo Gucci (1905 -1990), the founder of the luxury brand.

The letter specifies that the Gucci heirs were particularly hurt by the description of Patrizia Reggiani, “a woman convicted of having ordered the murder of Maurizio Gucci (presented) as a victim”. She also regrets that Aldo Gucci and his relatives are portrayed as “hooligans, ignorant and insensitive to the world around them”.

Worried about the footage of the shoot circulating on social networks, Patrizia Gucci spoke in April to talk about his disappointment. “I speak on behalf of the family,” she told Associated Press. They steal the identity of an entire family to make a profit, to increase the income of the Hollywood system. Our family has an identity, a private life. We can talk about anything, but there is a line that should not be crossed. ”

House of Gucci is directed by the Briton Ridley Scott, 83, author of several of the most iconic films of the last 40 years like Blade runner, Alien, Gladiator Where Thelma and Louise.

The Gucci family has not been involved in the luxury brand since the 1990s. It is now owned by the French group Kering, founded by billionaire François Pinault.
