SURVEY Trust the government and parliament? No way! A slap in the face came from the voters: Slovaks have already believed TEAM – Topky.sk

According to statistics, only less than a quarter of the population currently trusts the government. Even a parliament with 27 percent confidence is not much better off. However, it is a different coffee for mayors, mayors and deputies of city and municipal councils. Here, confidence climbed to 58 percent.

On average, bathrobes also enjoy significantly more confidence than the government and parliament. 43 percent of respondents believe that. County deputies already a little less, 41 percent.

Only President Zuzana Čaputová, who is definitely or rather trusted by less than 52 percent of respondents, corrected the “good name” of top politicians as such.

“Interestingly, in all seven elected institutions, women and university graduates and, in addition to the communal level, people with higher incomes declared a higher level of trust (the gender difference is most pronounced in the case of the president – 57 percent of women and 45 percent of men trust her) “On the contrary, citizens of Hungarian nationality feel less trust in all institutions and, in terms of electoral preferences, especially the voters of the Republic, the LNRS and non-voters,” said the non-government.

The mayors of big cities do not enjoy confidence either

At the municipal level, it turned out that, on average, people trust the mayors and deputies of small villages more. In municipalities with less than 1,000 inhabitants, over 68 percent believe in mayors and almost 65 percent in deputies.

The mayors and deputies of large and more anonymous cities are already enjoying a little less confidence. With those over 50,000 and 100,000 inhabitants, this number is below 50 percent. And the bigger the city, the less its leaders enjoy the trust of the locals. The worst of this comparison is based on the mayors of Bratislava and Košice, which on average are trusted by less than 44 percent of the population. However, such a level of confidence is still significantly higher than in the case of the government or parliament.

The survey was conducted by Focus for Transparency in the second half of November on a sample of 1,005 respondents.
