Messi adds the seventh Ballon d’Or to his career 2:23

(CNN Spanish) –Argentine soccer player Lionel Messi won his seventh Ballon d’Or, the most prestigious individual award a player can win in world soccer.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who has five of these recognitions, was sixth in the ranking.

Messi beat Polish Robert Lewandowski. After the award was not awarded in 2020, the Bayern Munich player was left with the award for best forward of the year.

Lionel Messi said that Lewandowski deserved the Ballon d’Or last year and that France Football, the magazine that delivers the award, must give it to you.

Messi this year lifted the long-awaited Copa América with Argentina and, after a turbulent period in Barcelona, he went to PSG. Although he could not celebrate winning the Champions League or the Spanish league, the Argentine achieved his first FIFA title with his country, and also had a preponderant individual performance. He was the top scorer last season in Spain, winning the Pichichi for the eighth time.
