Quarantine applies to everyone, regardless of vaccination or overcoming COVID-19. This follows from the new decree of the Public Health Office (ÚVZ) of the Slovak Republic on the border regime, which is a reaction to the new coronavirus variant omicron. Marek Eliáš from the Communication Department of the ÚVZ SR informed about it.
From Wednesday, December 1, 2021 quarantine will be mandatory upon arrival in Slovakia regardless of vaccination and overcoming COVID-19 apply to all persons who have visited in the last 14 days:
The government has adopted a tough LOCKDOWN for two weeks for all without exception, and there is a curfew
The Public Health Office has stated that no exceptions apply to these people so far. Quarantine can be completed at home or in a quarantine accommodation facility.
In the case of an asymptomatic course, the quarantine ends:
- without passing the test by completing the 14th day after entering the territory of Slovakia,
- In the case of testing after receiving two negative results of the RT-PCR test, the first test may be completed not earlier than the first day after arrival and the second on the eighth day after arrival
- children under the age of 12 and two months do not need to be tested, their quarantine ends at the same time as other people in the same household.
These periods only apply if you do not have any symptoms of COVID-19. If they appear, the doctor decides to end the quarantine. Quarantine is also mandatory for other members of the household, regardless of whether they are completely vaccinated or have overcome COVID-19.
These rules apply only to those persons who come to the territory of Slovakia from 1 December 2021. If you visited the countries listed before the decree came into force, log in quickly to the email address [email protected] It is necessary to state the name, surname, telephone number and district in which you are currently staying. The relevant regional public health office will contact you to determine the next steps.
The change in the decree is an immediate response to the growing global occurrence of the new omicron variant. The WHO and several countries, including Slovakia, have chosen the precautionary principle and are approaching the new variant with caution after their experience with the alpha or delta. ÚVZ SR will continue to monitor and continuously evaluate verified scientific data on this variant, which will be available, and the procedure will be further corrected on the basis of the identified properties of this variant of the virus. Therefore, the introduction of additional preventive measures cannot be ruled out.
