Patients are not in acute danger.
The State Institute for Drug Control (ŠÚKL) is withdrawing the drug Losartan / Hydrochlorothiazide Stada from the market. It is used to treat essential hypertension, or high blood pressure. The reason for the withdrawal from the market is the presence of an azide impurity in the active substance losartan above the permitted limit. The institute informed about it on its website.
“Patients taking the medicine are not in acute danger, so do not stop treatment. Consult the attending physician for further therapy after using the package, “he informed. According to the state institute, other drugs with a combination of the active substances losartan and hydrochlorothiazide are available on the market from other holders.
