AKG K371 BT test: the simplest Bluetooth integration

The aptly named wireless version of the K371, the K371 BT obviously shares many points in common with its wired counterpart, especially in terms of manufacturing and sound performance. We therefore recommend that you read the detailed K371 test before tackling this short K371 BT test, which focuses on the most significant differences.

The first is felt as soon as you place the helmet on your head. Surprisingly, the K371 BT offers less convincing comfort than that of its 100% wired version. The main cause is the narrower depth of the atria which causes slight discomfort in the pinna, especially during long listening sessions. The obviously a little more important weight (295 g against 264 g) of this cordless version also plays a small role since the thin thickness of the rubbery pad of the hoop is made a little more felt. The K371 BT also offers a bit less effective sound insulation and is more prone to sound leaks.

The manufacturer has not bothered to integrate Bluetooth into this K371 BT. The user experience is extremely simplistic: a few rare audible signals as well as an LED vaguely guide the user; there is no companion application, no advanced functionality, nor the possibility of connecting the headset to a second device simultaneously (multipoint).

The commands, relatively complete, are placed on a small tactile surface (at the level of the AKG logo) which is unfortunately not very responsive and not perfectly reliable, requiring quite regularly to start again to correctly validate the command initially requested. On the other hand, we can be satisfied with an extremely comfortable autonomy of 55 hours, even more generous than the initial promise – charging is nevertheless done via a micro-USB connector. The integrated hands-free kit fulfills its function, as long as you are not in a too noisy environment.
