Lyon in pain – Debrief and NOTES of the players (MHSC 0-1 OL) – Maxifoot

Thanks to a goal from Lucas Paqueta, Olympique Lyonnais won Montpellier (0-1) this Sunday. This success counting for the 15th day of Ligue 1 allows the Rhone club to get closer to European places in the standings.

Still late compared to some competitors, Olympique Lyonnais had to negotiate his triumphant trip to Montpellier this Sunday.

Once again, Olympique Lyonnais could have let some points slip away at the end of the match. Lyon can thank their goalkeeper, first saved by his bar in the first period. Then decisive with good exits and especially important stops facing Mavididi and Mollet.

MONTPELLIER :

Jonas Omlin (6): funny performance for the Montpellier goalkeeper. Able to miss his exit and a simple raise in front of his surface, the Swiss can also defeat Paqueta and Toko Ekambi important moments.

Arnaud Souquet (6): offensive and little requested by Toko Ekambi, the right side went forward at every opportunity. He often found himself in a good position but the image of his strike without danger, the last gesture was not there. Replace the 83rd by Junior Sambia (not rated).

Mamadou Sakho (4): long feared for his aggressiveness, the former Parisian lacked authority in duels, especially against Slimani. Then the replacement for the Algerian Dembl dropped him on a deep ball.

Nicolas Cozza (4): by aligning the left side right of the central hinge, the trainer Olivier Dall’Oglio did not help him. As a result, he was misplaced on Paqueta’s goal. And makes a big mistake that he ends up catching up in the second period.

Stephy Mavididi (7): he only lacked efficiency in the last gesture. For the rest, the English striker was a permanent threat to the Lyon defenders! He did not stop striking with success, especially when he offered a Mollet goal. We only regret his shot deflected by Lopes and his non-framed point-blank head.

Nicholas Gioacchini (3): interesting on a few counter phases, the American was also clumsy in the first period. Then he started to disappear as his team reacted. Logically replaced the 56th by Elye Wahi (not rated), whose speed and in-depth calls caused a lot of damage on the Rhône side.

Valre Germain (2): in great difficulty for a few weeks, the center forward did not take advantage of this meeting to raise his head. Invisible, he did not exist. Replace the 74th with Bni Makouana (not rated).

Malo Gusto (7): decisive on the goal of Paqueta, the right side to speak his quality of center. This is good, there were many situations for the OL player, who coach Peter Bosz asked to play mainly in the opposing half of the field. This offensive instruction did not prevent him from making a nice rescue in front of Mavididi.

Jrme Boateng (4): little used in the first period, the German suffered after the break. Apart from his lack of communication with Denayer, especially on Mollet’s chances, he seemed to be struggling athletically. Was he diminished? In any case, he did not finish the match. Replace the 73rd with Damien Da Silva (not rated).

Jason Denayer (5): no gross error to report but the central defender did not release a standard of confidence. Quickly put down by Mavididi, he did not reassure his teammates in hot moments.

Emerson (5.5): used to take his lane, the left side served as third central defender. Not necessarily the position that best corresponds to the Italian, that we felt on the restraint.

Bruno Guimares (6.5): technically comfortable, the Brazilian midfielder enjoyed it in the first period. He easily found his teammates between the lines and allowed himself some interesting climbs. His match was then complicated in the second period, under pressure from Montpellier. Replace the 74th with Thiago Mendes (not rated), which brought its physical impact.

Maxence Caqueret (7): if OL mastered so much in the first period, it is also because Bleuet did not add any. His ability to orient the game or get out of a pressing with a minimum of touch of the ball has made Lyon’s game more fluid. Obviously, he touched the ball less after the break, without losing his recovery activity.

Lucas Paquet (7): back on the right lane, at least on the line-up, the Brazilian was omnipresent in the first period! The quality of his placement made him available between the lines and the finish, the image of the only goal of the game. Less prominent after returning from the locker room, even if he continued to harass the ball carrier. Replace the 83rd by Rayan Cherki (not rated).

Houssem Aouar (4,5): if the versatile medium sometimes benefits from its privileged relationship with Paqueta, overall, this remains insufficient. The Frenchman showed himself intermittently, as when his enchantment offered an opportunity Toko Ekambi. The kind of action Peter Bosz would surely like to see more than once a game.

Karl Toko Ekambi (4): in great shape in recent weeks, the Cameroonian striker was not in this Sunday.
