Many people from villages and towns near the Hungarian border remember Christmas shopping in Hungary, where all the shops are open. There are no controls at the borders yet, it was reported on television, which stated that Slovak citizens no longer go shopping in Hungary, for example to Győr, which is only 13 kilometers away from the border, just because of the favorable exchange rate of the euro against the forint. The Slovak retailers’ (ISKM) initiative, in response to a government-approved lockdown on Thursday, warned that Slovaks will use the travel restrictions for Christmas shopping abroad.
